Yorkdale-Glen Park is known to many Torontonians as the site of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, but the area has a lot more to offer than great retail options. This growing neighbourhood has major historical significance (Sir Sanford Fleming once called it home). It’s also been the site of recent revitalization efforts. With its diverse mix of residents, tree-lined streets, and abundance of charming houses, Yorkdale-Glen Park is poised for continued residential growth.

Where is Yorkdale-Glen Park?

Yorkdale-Glen Park is loosely bordered by Bathurst Street to the east, Highway 401 to the north, Staynor Avenue to the south, and a set of Canadian National Railway tracks to the west. The area around Dufferin Street and the Allen Expressway is generally considered to be the neighbourhood’s central commercial district, thanks largely to the nearby Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Amenities in Yorkdale-Glen Park

Yorkdale Shopping Centre is a major draw, featuring 270 stores and eateries. Popular retailers (like Apple, Old Navy, and the North Face) have locations in this expansive mall, as do luxury shops like Michael Kors and Burberry. Lawrence Square Shopping Centre is another local go-to for shoppers. Located at Lawrence Avenue West and the Allen Expressway, this convenient mall contains several major department stores along with a selection of smaller shops and service providers (including an optician and a dentist’s office). Along Dufferin Street, you’ll find an assortment of Italian grocers, while Bathurst boasts a number of kosher food stores.

Things to do in Yorkdale-Glen Park

If you’re a nature enthusiast, you’ll love living in Yorkdale-Glen Park. One of the best places to enjoy the great outdoors is Caledonia Park. Located at Caledonia Road and Lawrence Avenue West, this 11.5-hectare green space contain a baseball diamond, a multi-purpose sports field, and volleyball courts (among other amenities). Benner Park, which provides access to the Betline Trail, is equally charming.

When it comes to indoor recreation, there’s no shortage of options in Yorkdale-Glen Park. One local favourite is Playtime Bowl and Entertainment, where you’ll find bowling lanes, arcade games, and even laser tag facilities. Last but certainly not least, the area’s restaurant scene is well worth exploring. Fans of Japanese Cuisine will want to check out Miyako Sushi (on Marlee Street). For those who like Portuguese food, Darosa Cafe and Restaurant is a great spot for chicken and seafood.

Transportation

When it comes to living in Yorkdale-Glen Park neighbourhood you will be well served by transit. There are three nearby subway stations (Yorkdale, Lawrence West, and Glencairn) along the Yonge-University line. The 109 Ranee bus operates along Marlee Avenue, while the 47 Landsdowne runs frequently on Caledonia Road. These transit options make getting around Toronto very convenient.

The homes for sale in Yorkdale-Glen Park is diverse. Many of the area’s homes are charming bungalows that were built between the 1940s and the 1960s. That said, there are a growing number of custom-built houses in the area, as well as some newer condo developments. Many new residents are attracted to the area around Yorkdale Station, which features mature trees and expansive lots. While there are some neighbourhood homes around the $2 million mark, there are also a lot of more affordable options (including a variety of homes between $500K and $600K).
